Islam was not founded in the Holy Land, but never the less some of Islam's holiest sites are located in the Land of Israel. Furthermore the Islamic rule over the holy land lasted for 458 years until the Crusaders came in 1099 AC. Here are of some of the sites in Israel which are holy in the Islamic religion:
The Dome of the Rock- is the building with the golden dome on the top of the Temple Mount, where the Temple once stood. The doom is the oldest Islamic building in the world. The doom is believed to be on top of The Foundation Stone (the stone from which the world's creation began).
The Al-Aqsa Mosque- is one of a series of mosques that are located on the Temple Mount. The mosque is believed to be standing at the same place from which the prophet Mohammad ascended to heaven.
There are many more sites that have in the holy land which hold a special significance for Muslims, the fact is there are many Muslims that live in Israel today and maintain a religious lifestyle, and furthermore there are many Arab- Muslim settlements in Israel that have a major part in the holy land's history.
